Our mission is three-fold:

​

1. To provide tools that can inform patients in a clinical setting of their risk for adverse peri- and post-operative events based on their individualized risk profile

2. To alert providers in the pre-operative and immediate post-operative period of patients who may benefit from additional health optimization prior to discharge

3. To minimize disparities in access at-risk populations may experience due to those same comorbidity or demographic factors

As reimbursement reform moves towards bundled payment models, limited risk adjustment incentivizes patient selection, potentially leading to disparities in access for those perceived to have more severe comorbidity profiles. It is our hope that this work will inform subsequent legislation in providing accurate risk adjustment for reimbursement, in turn minimizing any unintended effects at-risk populations may experience from evolving reimbursement policy.
